Welcome to Grade 5/6 for 2016
We have begun the year with enthusiasm and excitement, all of our students have settled well into their grades. The Senior School information night gave us an opportunity to share our curriculum and planned events for the year.
Learning and Teaching
In Year 5/6 We Are Learning To.... Present our work with pride everyday.
READING: We have looked at the attributes and habits of a good reader, focussing on how to choose appropriate texts, all students have been able to borrow books from the library. We have been visualising the texts we read and drawing images.
WRITING: We are writing applications for Positions of Responsibility within each grade. Revisiting what is necessary when writing a letter for a specific purpose.
MATHS: Our focus has been on Number and Algebra looking at Place Value. We have been completing Maths challenges and games within each grade.
KIDS CONNECT:
The students have been involved in a range of Emotional Intelligence activities that focus on building relationships and getting to know each other as a grade and as a group of senior students. Our activity on Growth Mindset, changing the way we use our language and the way we tackle our tasks has been most enlightening. Our display is in the Atrium of our Senior building, well worth a look!
